Fish and other creatures

Conrad:

We made a little aquarium. This is how we made it: we ate all the pretzels, we put sand in the jar, and we put some water in the jar. I used a net to catch crabs. Mom caught a puffer-fish looking thing. We brought the crabs and the little fish back to the boat. A few minutes later we let the fish and crabs go.

Mark:

We made a fish home. We made it so fish could swim through it. We thought the fish would like it.

Happy Birthday Mark!

I turned 6 yesterday! We decorated my cake with Halloween candy and had fun. Mom and Dad didn't let us put Nerds on it though. My favorite present was Legos from Grandma and Grandpa and Nana and Grandpa. We had a fun year living on the boat.

A dead armadillo at Cumberland Island. We saw a live one
too but it was hard to take a picture of that one.

Charleston Fountain

We are in Charleston. We played at the fountain and found a little water fort that Mark found. It was created by the ring of water coming out of the fountain. First we ran to the back and then crawled up to the front. You can crawl around in it if you are small enough. Mark said, "This is gonna be great!" and put his face into it. We were trying to splash the water down the drain. We were hiding from Mom and Dad. There was a big blob of water that splashed up and poured on us. If you try to go in it, it might push you down. People were looking at us and taking pictures.

Conrad's visit to the Virginia Air & Space Museum

By Conrad

The other day I went to the air and space museum with my sock monkey. My favorite part of the museum was a rover that I put my sock monkey into! There were plane games too. I had fun. There are lots of movies. Some were about planes and some were about space shuttles. After we did all the stuff we took our dinghy home.

My friend Zach

By Conrad

I caught some zebra crabs with my friend Zach.  He had a big crab trap that we had to pull up to get the crabs.  We had a lot of fun and we had buckets to put them in so they wouldn't eat the grass shrimp and minnows we also caught.  We caught lots of grass shrimp.  Probably around 100.  We also had races against each other.  I won. We also had a picnic with Mark and our friends Emily and Isabelle. I went on their boat to take a quick look.  I liked their boat.

Sand castles in the wind

We built sandcastles today while Dad went to the store. It was very windy by the shore even though inland it was not.

Mark: I worked hard on my kingdom. I made a bunch of flags too. The crab shell is the drawbridge and there are shells for walls. The shell wall is by the crab shell. I like the 2 crab claws. They are automated. They are defenses for the kingdom. I like my kingdom a lot. It was fun making my kingdom but I had to hurry.

Conrad: I got the idea for making the stone wall and the big kingdom from the Great Wall of China. There are two drawbridges. One is not showing though. There is an arch at the front of the castle where the first drawbridge that I made was. I made the moat deep. I tried to dig to water but I couldn't so I just had to leave it deep. I still liked it.

The Many Faces of Red Brook Pond Trail

We learned about optical illusions today. As we were approaching the pond and nearby cranberry bog, we all thought we saw a small stream and waterfall. When we got to the clearing, there was no waterfall. When we went back up the trail to figure out what we saw, we realized that the moat surrounding the cranberry bog and the trickle of water coming out of a pipe made it look like a waterfall. Later, we looked up optical illusions.
